During inclement weather events – including extreme cold, wind chill, ice and snow – Clarion safety personnel continuously monitor local conditions, National Weather Service precipitation and temperature forecasts, and local and regional weather advisories.
If it snows
Clarion University will remain open, classes will be held and services will be provided during periods of severe winter weather.

Faculty members unable to meet a class because of weather conditions must notify their department chairperson or dean (except in instances in which classes are canceled or the university is closed). Additionally, if the class is held at the Venango campus, the faculty member must notify the dean of the Venango campus. This notification may be oral or in writing, however, within one week of the canceled class, the faculty member must provide the department chairperson with a written confirmation of the cancellation and a plan for making up the class.
If schedules are changed

If classes are delayed

There are numerous actions the university may take in response to inclement weather events. Please be advised of the following distinctions:
Classes delayed
- Faculty and Students: University teaching faculty and students should not report to classes scheduled before the specified time.

Classes canceled
- Faculty and Students: University teaching faculty and students should not report to class.

- Only individuals identified as 'Essential Personnel' should report to campus according to their regular schedules or as indicated otherwise by their supervisors. Other staff may be directed to report to campus to address matters of safety, maintenance or other issues as determined necessary by management.
University operations canceled
- Only individuals identified as 'Essential Personnel' should continue at their work site through the end of the regular workday unless directed otherwise by their supervisors. Other staff may be directed to remain at the work site to address matters of safety, maintenance or other issues as determined necessary by management.
